About Us - Our Inspiration
- Simple hikes... collecting acorns or looking for that perfect walking stick.
- Sitting by a lake... skipping stones.
- Relaxing on a fallen tree branch... watching migrating geese fly overhead.
Historically we have found that experiences such as these have proven to be therapeutic, even though we hadn't sought them out for that particular purpose. We've come away relaxed, refreshed, and inspired.
Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods and The Nature Principle refers to a condition he calls Nature Deficit Disorder and describes the therapeutic benefits of simple, unstructured experiences in nature. He is also founder of the Children and Nature Network which serves as a primary inspiration for our programs.
